Exports offset supply charges only, never delivery, since 2025

Condiciones publicadas

ComEd customers who began net metering on or after 1 January 2025 are credited for exports only against supply charges, never against delivery charges. On Rate BES, net exports earn kilowatt hour credits against the Electricity Supply Charge, Transmission Services Charge and Purchased Electricity Adjustment that can carry forward for the life of the system, or you can elect a monthly money credit at those three charges: 8.413 + 1.690 − 1.551 = 8.552 cents a kWh on a residential October 2026 bill, and the adjustment changes monthly. On time-of-use Rate BEST or hourly Rate BESH the credit is money at those time-varying supply prices. Customers already in the older classes before 1 January 2025, and later customers at the same premises, also get credit against per-kilowatt-hour delivery charges for the life of the system, as long as they keep meeting that class's rules (NM1 requires Rate BES) and no DG rebate was paid on the system.

Mes a mes
On Rate BES, kilowatt hour credits "accrue throughout the lifetime of the Eligible Facilities" (the tariff applies this from the October 2022 billing period). They stay with the billing address when a new customer takes over the home. They expire after a gap in ownership of the address longer than one calendar year, and they "will not transfer when there is a change in NM classification", such as a move to the monthly money credit, Rate BEST or a retail supplier. Legacy pre-2025 credits expire at the end of the annual period, which ends with the April or October billing period as you elect, and legacy NM1 energy credits also expire if you leave Rate BES.
Una vez al año
Kilowatt hour credits under the post-2025 Rate BES class are not cashed out; they carry forward. If you receive a money credit, such as the monthly money credit option, the tariff effective 14 September 2026 lets you elect to have a net credit balance on a monthly bill paid to you on or before that bill's due date, or by the next due date if your request comes too late to process. Legacy pre-2025 customers keep a 12-month annual period, and unused credits expire at its end.

¿No sabe cuál elegir?

Get ComEd to confirm in writing which net metering class you will be in, because banked kilowatt hour credits "will not transfer when there is a change in NM classification", including a switch to the monthly money credit, Rate BEST or a retail supplier. A battery interconnected on or after 1 June 2026 must stay on a time-of-use or hourly supply product such as Rate BEST or Rate BESH, so the Rate BES kilowatt hour credit is not available with it. If you began net metering on or after 1 January 2025 and buy supply from a retail electric supplier, ComEd pays no export credit, so get the supplier's terms in writing. If you have pre-2025 solar, taking ComEd's $300 per kW DC Resource 1 DG rebate moves you to the supply-only class from the date it is issued, and a rebate paid to anyone on the system counts even if you did not receive it. Ask ComEd in writing before switching rate or supplier, or applying to net meter added panels or a battery.

$16.78 a month for a single-family home
Cómo se calcula
ComEd has no single figure: it splits residential into four delivery classes and the fixed monthly is two charges added together, a Customer Charge plus a Standard Metering Service Charge. For 2026 a single-family home without electric space heat pays $13.26 + $3.52 = $16.78; multi-family without electric heat $9.76 + $3.52 = $13.28; single-family with electric heat $15.09 + $3.52 = $18.61; multi-family with electric heat $10.57 + $3.52 = $14.09. Each is stated as "& ADJ", an adjustment applied on top, so the floor is a little above these. The sheet also carries 2025 and 2027 columns. Illinois is deregulated, so this is delivery only.

Preguntas sobre la medición neta de ComEd

¿Ofrece ComEd medición neta uno por uno?
No.
Exports offset supply charges only, never delivery, since 2025.
